From day one, when Babatunde Fashola was appointed as Minister for power, I was among the people who were opposed to such moves. The reason was that you can’t appoint a Lawyer who doesn’t understand the principles of electricity as Minister for power.
Indeed, Fashola fumbled as a Minister of power. Without generating a single kilowatt; he increased tariffs from N11 per KW to N33 per KW.
For three years; Fashola was busy focusing on Distribution while Nigeria’s problem was GENERATION.
The first MOU that Babatunde Fashola signed with General Electric was on Distribution.
It’s seems that the Present Minister of power, Saleh Mamman has gotten his bearings right.
I am not joking; but my personal observation was that out 48 hours; we have about 45 hours power supply in my locality. What we have never observed through 4 years of Babatunde Fashola.
