CHIEF(HON.) PRINCE WELI-WOSU CONDEMN PROPOSED HATE SPEECH BILL
… Urges Obio/Akpor Social Media Group to be patient
The Deputy National Chairman and Leader of National PDP Ex-Councillors forum in Rivers State, Chief(Hon.) Prince Weli-Wosu JP, has frowned at the proposed Hate Speech Bill sponsored by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Sabi Abdullahi.
Weli-Wosu said this while addressing a delegation of Obio/Akpor Social Media Group led by Martins Wachukwu, who paid him a Courtesy visit in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
“There is no basis for the Hate Speech Bill”, he maintained.
He expressed grave displeasure on the attempt by the federal government to muzzle freedom of speech by its attempt to regulate activities on social media in the country.
He urged Nigerians to collectively defend democracy.
Chief Weli-Wosu praised the Obio/Akpor Social Media Group for the role they played during the last general elections in Rivers State.
He said that the re-election of Governor wike was because of his outstanding performance and projects delivery.
He urged members of the Apex Media Group in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to be patient.
Earlier, the Coordinator of Obio/Akpor Social Media Group, Mr. Martins Wachukwu described Chief Weli-Wosu as a visionary and purpose driven leader.
Mr. Martins Wachukwu said the purpose of this visit was to inform Chief Prince Weli Wosu of the group’s activities in promoting good governance in Rivers State.
