President Trump on Thursday backed down from his controversial push to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, effectively conceding defeat in a battle he had revived just last week and promised to continue despite a recent string of legal defeats.
“We will leave no stone unturned,” Mr Trump said.
The retreat follows a long fight over the inclusion of the question, which the Supreme Court had blocked in June.
“We are not backing down on our effort to determine the citizenship status of the United States population,” the US president said.
Recall that Nigeria conducted CENSUS all over the country from November 27 to December 2, 1991.
Do you know that the 64-page 10-year standard passport costs N70,000, official prize while minimum wage is N30, 000? It’s only in Nigeria that International passport which supposed to be issued freely at birth; now costs twice higher than minimum wage.
Presently, Nigeria doesn’t have database, hence don’t really know how many we are as a nation. Influx of foreigners and terrorists are on the increase due to the porous borders.
Our Lawmakers are only interested on budgeting padding. For instance 2018 budget was padded from N8.6 trillion budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly on November 7, 2017 was increased to N9.1 trillion when it was finally passed in May 2018.
