Usman Bugaje, an ambassadorial nominee from Katsina state, has given a reason why he turned down President Muhammadu Buhari’s offer.
He has declined to speak to the media on his decision.
But on his Facebook page on Wednesday, the holder of PhD in history thanked Buhari for the appointment, but he said he could not accept it because his hands were full.
“Regarding the published nomination for an ambassadorial posting, I have not spoken to the press and may not do so anytime soon,” he wrote.
“I thank those who think me fit for the job, but I have so much in my hands already, especially the Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP), which is the only broad platform in the north driving development.
“I have weighed the options and have decided to remain home and continue the struggle for development and good governance.”
Dr Usman Bugaje has faulted Buhari’s administration in three areas :
Firstly, the Kitchen Cabinet which was made of hawks, hyenas and Jackals who don’t wish Nigeria well but after their private pockets. This has resulted in poor performance of Buhari’s administration.
He further recommended that President Buhari should overhaul his kitchen cabinet if he wants to make progress during his 2nd Tenure.
The second was on Security which was the primary duty of any government. He suggested that Chief of Army, Buratai who is from Borno State and yet couldn’t provide security in that region should have been fired long ago. He pointed out that this government has failed woefully on Security matters.
The third reason was on the economy and hardships which were linked to the two earlier factors. Nigeria’s economy has nose dived in recent times.
After borrowing N18 Trillion from China in less than 4 years of Buhari’s administration; yet none of the refineries is functioning and we still import refined fuel in a country that has the best crude oil in the world.
The idea by Minister for state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu to invite original builders to revamp the refineries were thwarted by the same kitchen cabinet.
As we speak, the idea was dusted and buried while the landing cost of premium motor spirit (PMS ) stands at N210 per litre.
Incidentally, PMS sells at N145 per litre which depicts heavy loss that the nation can bear.
