Steven Gerrard aims to make more signings in the coming weeks as he continues to shape his Rangers squad.
The new Gers boss has already brought in seven players since taking over in June but is keen to further bolster his options for the new season.
Gerrard has been linked with a move for Roma striker Sadiq Umar and hinted a deal could be done in the near future.
“He [Umar] is still a Roma player but it has been well documented that I am a fan,” Gerrard said.
“But it’s just a case of watch this space.”
Nigerian international Umar, 21, has been with Roma since 2015, spending time on loan with Italian counterparts Bologna and Torino.
He played most recently for NAC Breda in the Dutch top flight during a six-month loan stint, where he scored five goals in 12 appearances.
Rangers continued their preparations for next week’s Europa League first-leg qualifier against Macedonian side Shkupi with a 6-0 friendly thrashing of Bury on Friday.
“It is difficult to say whether it will be done before the first leg, but we will be doing more business,” Gerrard added.
